Background on “Rainbow”.

I tried to abstract the world, featured in the consecutive drama, once broadcasted in Japan.

The story is a kind of love story between the younger man and a woman in 30s.

The heroin was acted by Yuko Takeuchi, who deceased last year unfortunately due to self-kill.

After her self-kill, I noticed I haven’t seen not so many works that she acted, although I was one of her fans...

After her death, I have consecutively seen her works, such as Strawberry night, Innocent days, Flower shop without rose, and this drama, called, Summer Romance Shines in Rainbow Colors.

Attributed to the title of the drama, I named my latest works as “Rainbow”, though very simple...

By the way, why I was attracted by this movie, was that I had a similar experience when I was in younger days...

Of course, it was before I got married to my wife...

The situation was not completely the same as mine, but for my case, the ex-partner(not girl, but she was a mature woman) worked 

as a teacher, while I was a part-time teacher due to it that I needed to concentrate on prep for the important exam.

I didn’t have a job, economic success and any social status. But the only thing I had was just the fact, I really loved her...

And she accepted my feeling after some discussion on our generation gap... it was about 10 years gap between us...

But I was really fallen love with her at that time, and nothing could stop myself from approaching to her..

During the period that we got along with, once she told me that I strongly opened her completely closed door for any person approaching to her.

She was fully determined to support her mother and father for her rest of life, without loving anyone.

She once divorced with the ex-husband, and she was quite damaged in her mind... Quite depressed when she talked about the past life with 

the ex-husband. I quietly listened to her talk, while I was not so comfortable to do so, if I speak honestly... Sometimes it was quite frustrating and I asked her a few times, why

she looked back on the past so, while I wanted to know how her life was before we started to know each other. Remembering the past, 

I think why I told her to discontinue our relationship was that it was too strong that her memories with her ex-husband and I thought it would be unrecoverable and it’d quite difficult to 

get her life to go forward, not going backward.... I was too young to keep the relationship with her, I should have kept trying to banish such mentally, deeply founded 

memories in her mind...

Apart from my memory, the heroin of this drama showed a similar reaction to what I saw. When confessed a kind of favorable affection by younger man, she didn’t understand what he is telling to her. She thought that she would stay to be single with her lovable daughter, as she didn’t believe that she would forget her ex-husband, who deceased due to being involved in the disaster occurred in the country where he visited for his business  trip. However, as the younger man didn’t take care of her past and he kept telling his love for her, she gradually got confused with her unknown feeling about him and wondered that she sometimes forgot her ex-husband, while such change hadn’t happened since her lost...

After some events and daily, not special, but cheerful talks between them, she got noticed that he was very nice, gentle and straightforward against what he was trying to be, a respectful actor like his father. She then truthfully admitted her feeling about him and decided not to hide that feeling in public, even before the actress who also liked him.

That kind of storyline was depicted in this tune. I tried to depict both persons’ feeling, from initial situation to the latter one.

When writing the lyrics of this tune, I noticed how pure their love is and it felt very happy. I hope that more and more people would experience

such priceless, energetic, passionate love in his/her life, even once or more...
